who we are

Inner City Ministries Ltd is an evangelical, non-denominational Christian mission that is committed to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with the South Asian community here in Hong Kong

Founded in 1994 with the support of evangelical churches in Hong Kong, ICM is based in the Jordan/Yau Ma Tei district of Kowloon, and is involved in whole person ministry amongst the poor and marginalized, seeking to meet the spiritual, physical and emotional needs of those around us and who come to us.

ICM has a team of full-time missionaries, as well as many volunteers, representing a wide variety of nationalities and faith traditions. Between them, our missionaries speak many of the major South Asian languages and share the culture of those we are reaching out to.

Together, we provide a family that is open to anyone – no matter where they have been or what they have done in their past. We base our ministry on building loving, long-lasting relationships as we stand alongside our friends through the ups and downs of life.

We are a registered charity under section 88 of the Hong Kong Inland Revenue Ordiniance. We are governed by a Board of Directors drawn from local churches, which ensures that we remain accountable to God and to our supporters in all that we do. Our accounts are handled independently and are submitted to auditors for completion each year.

statement of faith

Together we accept the revelation of the Triune God given in the Bible and confess the historic faith of the gospel of salvation therein set forth. We regard the following doctrines as essential to the understanding and practice of our faith; they are foundational to the outpouring of God’s grace, love and mercy in our lives and they are expressed in active discipleship, mutual love, Christian service and the proclamation of the Gospel:

The sovereignty and grace of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit in creation, providence, revelation, redemption and final judgment.

The divine inspiration of the Holy Scripture and its consequent entire trustworthiness and supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

The universal sinfulness and guilt of fallen man, making him subject to God’s wrath and condemnation.

The substitutionary sacrifice of the incarnate Son of God as the sole and all-sufficient grounds of redemption from the guilt and power of sin, and from its eternal consequences.

The justification of sinners solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ crucified and risen from the dead.

The illuminating, regenerating, indwelling and sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit.

The priesthood of all believers, who form the universal Church, the body of Christ, which is committed by His command to the proclamation of the gospel throughout the world.

The expectation of the personal, visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ, in power and glory.

our vision

transformationTRANSFORMATION :

Our vision has always been to bring the life changing message of salvation through Jesus Christ to the South Asian Community which has been marginalized by poverty and high unemployment in Hong Kong. We aim to encourage, comfort, strengthen and so, by God's grace, transform those whom we serve. Specifically we focus upon upholding the family, both children, youth and parents.

NURTURE :   Nurture is a key word in our vision for 2011 and beyond as we bring new focus into teaching and training for mission, developing discipleship courses, uniting with brothers and sisters in local Nepalese Churches and in providing a place for worship and biblical teaching for our target community.  We see our centre as a place where the Kingdom of God is grown in the hearts of all to whom we minister so that they in turn may share God's love and salvation in the wider community.

Power Point

what we do

We work alongside people in the South Asian ethnic minority community to show God’s love in practical ways and share the gospel at every opportunity. Whilst some of those we deal with lead stable and happy lives there are within our target community dysfunctional families and individuals struggling with unemployment, domestic violence, drug and alcohol addiction, homelessness even prostitution.   Our programmes are designed to build confidence encourage individuals, strengthen the family and provide new and lasting change in lives.   These programmes are an important way of expressing our love for people and Jesus’ love for us all. However, we see people’s spiritual needs as paramount and our overarching aim is always to share the gospel and see lives changed by the power of the risen Lord Jesus. In doing this we nurture those who come to use having given their lives to Jesus so that they too may go out and in turn minister to the community around them.
